BIM SPECIALIST (ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS MODELING) Building on the rapid advancement of the Starship program, SpaceX is seeking to rapidly develop and retrofit launch infrastructure facilities to support vehicle builds and re-flight refurbishments. We are seeking a Building Information Modeling (BIM) Specialist to lead the modeling, integration and coordination of electrical systems for multi-disciplinary Starship and Super Heavy Booster tooling systems, and facilities infrastructure. This position will serve as a key technical resource, supporting project teams and fostering strong BIM practices throughout the project lifecycle. RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop, maintain, and upgrade detailed 3D BIM models of electrical systems (power distribution, control systems, data acquisition, wire harnesses, routing, cable management, hardware mounting, and equipment placement) using industry-standard software such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD,or NX Own, draft, redline, and maintain electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts and prepare related documentation while coordinating 3D model placement of electrical systems with the system Responsible Engineers Integrate electrical systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing (MEP), and other disciplines for Starship facilities and production tooling, in a safe, economical, and reliable way. Lead coordination of electrical systems into living facility models, owning end-to-end integration and electrical documentation ownership Generate construction documents, quantity takeoffs, visualizations, and as-built drawings from BIM models to support bidding, procurement, on-site execution, and long-term reliability improvements for electrical infrastructure and production systems Act as a liaison between project stakeholders, internal tooling teams, production leadership, responsible engineers, internal design and construction teams, and third-party consultants throughout the project life cycle Perform clash detection, model coordination, and constructability reviews focused on electrical systems to identify and resolve conflicts early in design and construction phases Support the development and maintenance of SpaceX BIM standards, protocols, and workflows for electrical infrastructure; act as the primary technical resource for electrical BIM issues Lead transition of electrical BIM workflows (including data migration, process documentation, and training); actively drive continuous improvements and optimizations for team processes, quality improvements, faster build times, lower maintenance, project kitting, communication, and feedback loops Support review and interpretation of power system studies, field data, and electromechanical integration; perform daily task prioritization and risk mitigation; participate in cross-functional meetings providing electrical BIM expertise to inform design decisions Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure an efficient and effective work environment BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management 1+ years of experience in a 3D drafting or BIM specialist/modeling role 1+ years of experience working with electrical systems PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Occupational trade school qualification or experience working in an electrical technical role or in the electrical field Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70E, NFPA 79 & UL508A codes Proficiency with BIM tools such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD Electrical, NX, and/or SolidWorks Proficiency in clash detection, federated modeling, interdisciplinary coordination workflows, and constructability reviews for large-scale or high-rise projects Experience drafting and maintaining electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and as-built drawings with strong ownership of documentation practices and revision control Experience modeling electrical systems in industrial environments Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to independently drive projects, manage multiple priorities, and succeed in a high-paced team environment with evolving needs ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is based in Starbase, TX and requires being onsite - remote work not considered Flexible to work extended hours and/or weekends to align with residential project deadlines and site operations ITAR REQUIREMENTS: To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
